Fairytale in the Black Forest

Getting its name from the oppressive canopy of evergreens looming above the forest floor we head into the setting for many a Grimm brothers’ fairytale. The Black Forest, where picturesque villages full of half-timbered houses dot the landscape and cuckoo clocks keep an eye on the time. Enjoy a visit to the impressive Mainau Island, known for its botanical gardens with many different areas to explore including Butterfly House and Palm House. Experience the drama and beauty of the Rhine Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in Europe with a boat trip as part of your itinerary. 

Travel

Your comfort is our priority and all travel arrangements have been made with this in mind. Comfort stops will always be planned en route for lunch/refreshments. We will arrive at the hotel in the late afternoon, where your luggage will be taken to your room (unless otherwise specified) and you will have plenty of time to freshen up before the evening meal. Return travel will follow a similar schedule.

Your Main Hotel: Waldeck Spa Resort, Bad Durrheim

This hotel in Bad Dürrheim offers a large spa area, a heated indoor pool and 3 restaurants. All rooms at the Waldeck SPA Kur- & Wellness Resort have a private bathroom and TV. Most of them have a balcony. Wi-Fi is available in the whole hotel for a small fee. The café and bar serve hot and cold drinks. These are served on the terrace during warm weather. The Waldeck’s spa also includes a range of saunas, a fitness room and Kneipp facilities.

Excursions

All of our excursions are included in the holiday price unless otherwise specified. In addition to the planned activities, most excursions will allow plenty of free time for you to explore our well-chosen destinations. If you prefer to make other arrangements or just relax at the hotel instead of any of the excursions, you are welcome to do so. If so, we kindly ask you to please inform your driver. We will depart after breakfast and return in the late afternoon or early evening, to enable you to freshen up before your evening meal.
