The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an experience like no other. Taking place on the esplanade of Edinburgh's iconic Castle, experience an unforgettable evening of music, ceremony, theatre and dance. In 2017 the show embraces a colourful theme, Splash of Tartan, playing host to a stunning array of performers from all points of the compass. In a Royal Navy lead year, we set sail with the Massed Bands of Her Majesty's Royal Marines as we celebrate the history, heritage and colour of Scotland's global family both near and far.

The castle now houses the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment and the Border Regiment Museum.

Dumfries

Connected by russet-hued sandstone bridges which straddle the grassy banks of the River Nith, this former royal burgh has an interesting history and special connection to Scotland’s National Bard. Situated in an 18th Century watermill by the banks of the River Nith, visit the Robert Burns Centre which tells the story of the Bard’s extraordinary time in the market town.
